Mike Christy and Consortium Capitals History & Approch

Our History

Founded in the heart of Mandeville, Louisiana, Consortium Capital began with a simple yet profound idea: to provide quality financial planning accessible to all, regardless of background or status. Our founders, with over two decades of experience across various financial sectors, recognized the need for a client-centric approach that prioritizes personalized solutions over product sales.

Our non-proprietary model allows us to focus solely on our clients’ needs, crafting strategies that align with their unique goals and circumstances. Semmes Hughs Consortuim Capitol

Semmes Hughs

Associate General Agent

I continue to build strong business and personal relationships by helping clients reach their financial goals. I do this while also educating and providing insurance-based solutions for retirement and protecting their loved ones. I’ve been active in the life insurance and financial services industry since 1983. I Earned my CLU degree in 2002.

My areas of expertise include risk management strategies, life insurance, disability income, long term care, annuities, and employee benefits. I am a Past Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table, past President of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and an active member of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers. I’ve had both a retail as well as a wholesale practice, where I’ve been effective helping other colleagues with their business as it pertains to risk management planning in estate, business, and retirement planning. I was born in Jackson, MS but grew up in New Orleans. I graduated from Jesuit High School and Tulane University.

I have lived in Madisonville since 2001 and have a long history of being involved in several community service, civic and social organizations with a purpose of helping those in need. I’m married to my wonderful wife, Julie, better known as “The Queen”, and my children are Elizabeth Hughs Bouanchaud (Stephen) with their daughter Lucy (YES, I’m a grandfather, Woohoo!) , Tommy, and Catherine.

Allen Churchill, CLTC

Allen Churchill, CLTC

Associate Managing Director

A graduate of The George Washington University, Allen began his career in public affairs with highlights that include roles at the National Republican Congressional Committee, Hill and Knowlton, and training democracy activists in Ukraine and Moldova.

In 2006, Allen transitioned into financial services by joining A.G. Edwards in Mandeville, LA. Over the years, he navigated five firm mergers during the post-2008 financial crisis—an experience that, along with having lived through the oil crash of the 1980s, gave him a sharp awareness of the market’s cyclical nature.

Allen developed a deep passion for long-term care planning as a result of chronic illness in his own family. In 2020, he was recruited by longtime colleague Semmes Hughs and Mike Christy to join The Consortium. Two years later, he was promoted to Managing Director and expanded his practice to help clients address a broader range of retirement risks, including market volatility, longevity, chronic illness, inflation, and sustainable growth.

His services now also encompass small business planning, including buy-sell agreements, succession planning, retirement plans, deferred compensation, and employee benefits. Allen takes a team-based approach, bringing in subject-specific experts to provide the best possible guidance for each client’s situation.

He is happily married to his wife, Kelli—a Mandeville-based mental health therapist—and remains active in his church and community.

Leroy Simpson, Psy.D

Chief Engagement Officer

My passion lies in creating workplaces where all stakeholders—clients and advisors—feel valued, motivated, and empowered to do their best and achieve their best.

Fun fact: In 2011, I earned my insurance license thanks to the encouragement—and love (yes, love!)—from Mike Christy. He saw something in me that aligned with what I had already felt: a calling to help people. Since then, I’ve maintained a deep connection to finance, diving into everything from paper assets like stocks and bonds, to venture capital investing, private credit lending, and cash flow analysis.

Throughout my career—as an industrial-organizational psychologist, a small business and “side hustle” investor, and now as a psychology professor—I’ve worked with organizations to design and implement initiatives that enhance stakeholder experiences. For me, building a strong, values-driven company culture where advisors and clients alike can thrive isn’t just a strategy—it’s a mission.

I believe Consortium Capital’s core values, mission, and vision shouldn’t just live on paper—they should be reflected in how we work, communicate, and grow. I’m beyond excited to help ensure those values are woven into the daily fabric of this firm.

Here at Consortium, my role is to strengthen relationships between stakeholders—clients and advisors alike. I’ll also be leveraging artificial intelligence to accelerate that work (yes, I’m bringing AI to the Consortium!).

I look forward to getting to know each of you better. Please feel free to reach out—let’s build a financial planning firm where everyone feels engaged, appreciated, and excited about what we’re creating—inside and out.

Tara DeLuca

Regional Managing Director
Eastern United States

This photo was taken in Aspen, CO—but my journey began in Brooklyn, NY, a very different backdrop from the mountains.

After graduating from Penn State University, I launched my corporate career at Brown & Brown Insurance. There, I gained hands-on experience in sales, marketing, and business development across both Property & Casualty and Health Insurance. Over six years, my curiosity and drive to grow naturally led me into the world of finance.

Since 2010, I’ve built a rewarding career in the financial services industry—excelling in sales, portfolio management, lending procurement, and leadership—primarily throughout Florida.

I’m also a proud mom to my son, Mase (aka “mini me”), who inspires me daily to lead with purpose and integrity. When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my two English Labrador Retrievers or cheering on my beloved Penn State Nittany Lions.

Every day is a new opportunity to grow, connect, and create something meaningful. Let’s make it happen!
